Electrical Engineering Distinguished Professor Adel Nasiri will be elevated to IEEE Fellow on January 1, 2022, for his contributions to high-power converters for energy storage systems and microgrids. This honor, the highest level in IEEE, recognizes Nasiri's two decades of work.

Nasiri joined the College of Engineering and Computing faculty in August after 16 years at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he held several key positions. He also served as site director for the NSF’s Center on Grid-Connected Advanced Power Electronic Systems (GRAPES).

Nasiri chairs the IEEE Industry Applications Society Committee on Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conversion Systems and is vice chair of TC5 of the IEEE Power Electronics Society. He is the fourth current faculty member in electrical engineering at his institution to be elevated to IEEE Fellow.
